Description Job Description Are you looking for a role where you will contribute to supporting an industry which brings approximately £90 million into the Scottish Economy? Scotland is recognised, internationally, as a world leader in seed potato production due to the high health status of crops grown here and SASA is the body with the responsibility for certifying seed potato crops in Scotland. The SPCS officer’s form the main administrative support to the Scottish Seed Potato Certification Scheme, working in collaboration with staff at the local area offices throughout Scotland to ensure that seed potato crops are certified in accordance with legislation. Responsibilities Responsibilities Assess, check and capture PCN soil sampling applications giving advice as and when necessary to stakeholders. Following physical soil sampling of the fields and laboratory analysis of the samples the successful candidates will report results to stakeholders giving advice where necessary. Ensure that seed potato crops are correctly captured in the SPUDS database, along with the assessment of associated information. On completion of growing crop inspections, the postholders will ensure the accuracy of the data capture and ensure that results are issued timeously. Invoice stakeholders for all statutory processes performed under the Seed Potato Certification Scheme (growing crop and tuber inspections and soil sampling) and liaise with Finance Section accordingly Assist with the testing of updates to the SPUDS database and become proficient in interrogating the system to extract relevant information as well as developing a knowledge of the MySPUDS database. Administrative duties as required. Qualifications Success Profile Success profiles are specific to each job and they include the mix of skills, experience and behaviours candidates will be assessed on. Experience: Current experience working with IT packages including Outlook, Word, Excel and database applications. A working knowledge of the SPUDS database system is desirable although training in this system is available for suitable candidates with other relevant computer experience.
