The role
To focus on advising on corporate and transaction tax within leading regional businesses.
This would include supporting the client base across a multitude of tax advisory matters, including corporation tax, transactional tax, and restructuring.
Additional areas for which you may have experience or are keen to learn would also be included such as employee incentivisation, investor reliefs, capital allowance, and R&D as examples.
You will have a primary responsibility to deal with all matters within the management of the tax advisory projects working alongside the Directors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide tax advisory services and oversee the successful delivery of advisory work.
2. Co-ordinate with other professional services, overseeing input into transactions and tax advisory projects.
3. Develop and maintain strong client relationships and identify areas for new provision of tax and additional services.
4. Develop own network of contacts, internally and externally.
5. Responsible for preparation of advisory reports to clients.
6. Respond to and anticipate clients’ requirements and keep them informed.
7. Responsible for coaching and developing junior staff.
Technical Skills
1. 5-7 years experience within a corporate tax or owner-managed business role.
2. In-depth experience in key tax areas such as transactions, R&D, or share incentives.
3. Experience in preparing and reviewing tax advisory reports.
4. Preparing advance clearance applications and liaising with HMRC.
5. Proficient in undertaking research on technical legislation, HMRC manuals, and guidance.
6. Excellent report writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
The role will include
1. Management of a portfolio of client tax advisory projects.
2. Preparation of reports, advice notes and step plans for client transactions.
3. Presenting to clients, virtually and in person.
4. Identify opportunities and prepare proposals for new work.
5. Project and stakeholder management.
6. Support the wider firm in management of tax queries.
7. Liaise and co-ordinate professional and ad-hoc service.
8. Support the Directors in delivering and achieving the firm’s objectives.
You will have excellent written, oral communication and good organisation skills, attention to detail, and a motivation and drive to succeed.
As part of your business development you will be expected to attend networking events, support the marketing team and deliver presentations both internally and externally.
