We are looking for a passionate and inspiring casual Teaching Assistant - Level 1 to join our supportive and talented team at Minerva Primary School. We are a diverse multi-academy trust, looking for professional and ambitious people, with a passion for transforming our students’ learning.
About the role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated casual Teaching Assistant to support a child/children who require additional assistance throughout the school day. The child experiences significant emotional dysregulation and will require consistent, calm, and nurturing support to thrive in the school and classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work 1:1 with the child to provide targeted support tailored to their needs.
* Implement individualised strategies to help regulate emotions.
* Assist the child in accessing the curriculum by adapting activities and materials.
* Support the child in developing coping strategies, social skills, and emotional resilience.
* Collaborate with teachers, SENCo and external professionals to ensure the best coordinated support.
* Monitor and document the child’s progress, providing regular feedback to the SENCo and other relevant staff.
* Create and maintain a positive, structured, and safe learning environment.
We are looking for:
Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those who have difficulties with emotional regulation. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Willingness to undertake any necessary training related to supporting children with SEND. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Qualifications: Level 1, 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not essential). Experience working with children with additional needs in a school setting (essential).
