Company Description
Work with Us. Change the World.
At AECOM, we're delivering a better world. Whether improving your commute, keeping the lights on, providing access to clean water, or transforming skylines, our work helps people and communities thrive. We are the world's trusted infrastructure consulting firm, partnering with clients to solve the world's most complex challenges and build legacies for future generations.
Job Description
Enabling the energy transition through innovation and sustainability.
AECOM's Energy Business Unit houses three specialised practices - renewables, transmission & distribution and in the UK only, Nuclear. Each practice plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy, offering innovative solutions that balance efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
Renewables
We're committed to playing our part in the urgent transition from carbon-intensive energy sources to less centralised and more flexible energy systems. Our teams of energy professionals link up across our global network of offices to provide solutions, designs, and support to clients in multiple technical and deployment areas such as: on and offshore wind power, solar power, hydropower, carbon capture, alternative fuels, hydrogen and, crucially, energy demand assessment and carbon reduction.
Start here. Grow here.
Are you ready to take on the role of Associate Hydropower Director, Renewable Energy in our rapidly expanding hydro team? You will be responsible for undertaking a technical and delivery role on projects within the team; our projects are in all stages of development and at all scales, from pre-feasibility of small hydro to detailed design of large pumped storage hydro both in the UK and Ireland and countries throughout Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa. We collaborate extensively with AECOM's other hydropower teams in North America and Australia. Our clients are a mix between large energy utility generators to private developers.
Responsibilities:
* Liaise with clients, manage project work on a day-to-day basis and ensure that the work is delivered within the agreed timescale and budgets.
* Coordinate multi-disciplinary design of hydropower energy infrastructure.
* Respond to technical queries raised by Site Teams, where appropriate.
* Act as lead verifier on reports including technical feasibility studies and design reports (depending on core engineering discipline).
* Direct junior members of staff and mentor graduate engineers.
If you're passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, AECOM welcomes you. Join our team, where we don't just construct infrastructure but also uplift communities and enhance lives. Qualifications:
Here's what we're looking for:
* BEng (Hons) degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical or Mechanical or Environmental)
* Chartered status or actively working towards chartership
This role, with a strong technical focus, requires candidates to have a background in civil, electrical, mechanical, environmental or project management experience in the energy sector, specifically in hydropower, and demonstrate a high degree of technical competency. Experience of leading or making significant contributions to projects in one or more of the following is essential:
* Hydroelectric design - both run of river and pumped storage.
We celebrate diversity, including neurodiversity, and believe it enriches our team. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and abilities. If you are an applicant with a disability that requires reasonable accommodation to complete the application process, please contact us at [emailprotected]. Additional Information
We are a Disability Confident Employer and will offer an interview to applicants who have a disability or long-term condition, who meet the minimum/essential criteria for the role.
