Overview:
Our client is looking for a Lead Technical Author with Army Equipment Support Publications (AESP) experience for an immediate start on a 12 month project.
As a Technical Lead, reporting to the Project Manager, you will use your technical and industry expertise, documentation skillset and subject matter knowledge to ensure successful delivery of tasks aligned to the project and customer specifications.
You will be located across Lionbridge and customer sites in the West Midlands, working alongside and interfacing with the customer’s engineering and project teams. You will operate as a KPOC and SME, liaising with the customer organisation. Primary functions of the role will be to assist in the scoping and definition of work packages, collate and review source information, resolve technical queries and facilitate the production team.
In this role you will drive the development of the production team capability and deploy process and operational change; the result delivering an engaged and high performing team.
The Role:
* Act as the operational and day-to-day technical expert and key point of contact.
* Scope and define tasks ready for production by the operational teams.
* Monitor deliverables to ensure quality and project KPIs are successfully met.
* Review project schedules to support successful and accurate delivery to key milestones.
* Develop process, training, and production methods, successfully deploying within the organisation to support efficiency gains.
* Work directly with the PM to create development strategies to ensure continuity of capability within the organisation to support the project and services.
* Work with and support the wider company organisation to understand customer needs and develop solutions for new business opportunities.
* Review technology and software solutions to support automation and enhance offering to our customers.
Essential skills:
* Extensive Technical and Engineering competence gained in a relevant industry and environment
* Knowledge of the Technical Documentation environment within an Engineering field
* Proven experience in creating and compiling Army Equipment Support Publications (AESP), demonstrating an understanding of military standards and specifications
* Familiarity with heavy armour, including armoured land vehicles, with an ability to understand and document complex mechanical systems and components
* Familiarity with Defence Industry and associated security process
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong stakeholder management and conflict resolution abilities
* Demonstratable experience of being proactive, adaptable, and resourceful
* Be a UK national and hold SC security clearance or have the ability to work towards SC clearance
Desirable skills:
* Valid SC security clearance
