The Role: Our client is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to join a dynamic team and support the growth of their material handling solutions. In this role, you will work closely with the sales, design, and manufacturing teams to ensure that projects are accurately quoted and designed to meet both client needs and manufacturing capabilities. You will use cutting-edge software and collaborate across departments to drive project success and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities of the Estimator: Enquiry Management: Work with the sales team to handle qualified project enquiries, breaking them down into detailed components and assessing manufacturing feasibility. Cost Estimation: Price projects ranging from £5,000 to £2 million, utilising Radquote software to streamline estimating and manage quoting systems for fabrication, laser cutting, and bending. Oversee 30-40% of work that requires subcontracting. Liaison & Support: Collaborate with purchasing, manufacturing, and technical teams to provide project support, assist with bids, and prepare necessary documentation. Manufacturing Oversight: Review drawings and ensure designs are aligned with production capabilities. Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring accurate and timely completion. Tender Support: Provide estimating support for mechanical design within tenders, ensuring integration with control systems and that customer layout information is validated. Continual Improvement: Assist in the development and implementation of new quoting software and sales estimating tools, while also contributing to value engineering and process optimization. Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have a background in engineering or manufacturing, with a solid understanding of mechanical engineering, fabrication processes, and cost estimation. You’ll be experienced in interpreting technical drawings and breaking down complex assemblies. Qualifications & Skills: HNC in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering is preferred Strong teamwork and communication skills. Benefits: Salary: Competitive base salary up to £45,000.
