About the role
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dedicated and skilled Temporary Works Coordinator (Senior Engineer) to join our Major Projects Team, based at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled engineer with a strong background in temporary works management and complex construction environments.
Hinkley Point C is a multi-billion-pound nuclear power station and a cornerstone of the UK’s energy future. This landmark project will play a vital role in meeting the country’s energy demands while driving sustainable progress.
Our team of experts utilizes cutting-edge technology to excavate nine kilometres of tunnels, reinforced with 38,000 precision-engineered concrete segments forming 6,000 lining rings. These tunnels will connect to the seabed via vertical shafts and be secured with large intake and outfall heads, each weighing nearly 5,000 tonnes, to facilitate seawater flow. Both the concrete segments and heads are manufactured to exacting standards at Balfour Beatty’s state-of-the-art facility in Avonmouth, Bristol.
As a Temporary Works Coordinator (Senior Engineer), you will be responsible for overseeing the design, delivery, and implementation of temporary works, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with project requirements.
What you'll be doing
Some key responsibilities will be:
* Oversee the design and construction of temporary works, coordinating with all stakeholders.
* Liaise with clients to navigate the approval and certification process.
* Maintain and regularly update the Temporary Works Schedule, reviewing it with the Temporary Works Designer (TWD) and Project Lead.
* Ensure that Temporary Works designs meet the required standards and are delivered on schedule.
* Supervise and assess the competency of Temporary Works Supervisors (TWS) alongside the Project Lead.
* Conduct inspections of temporary works before loading/unloading, ensuring on-site competence.
* Manage the design change process, working closely with the TWD to assess risks and necessary modifications.
Who we're looking for
To join us in this role you will have the following:
* Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or equivalent, or extensive experience in the field.
* Working towards professional qualification with a relevant institution, such as ICE (preferred).
* Proven expertise in managing temporary works on large-scale infrastructure projects.
