We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive secondary school that is committed to providing the best education for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role will involve working closely with a student who requires tailored support to access the curriculum and engage fully with school life. The ideal candidate will be passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people and will work to foster an inclusive, positive learning environment. In this role, you will work 1:1 with a student, helping them overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential. Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support to a student with SEN, ensuring they can access lessons, complete tasks, and participate in all aspects of school life. Assist with differentiation of learning materials and help adapt resources to meet the student's specific needs. Offer emotional and behavioural support, helping the student to develop social skills, manage emotions, and build resilience. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to track the student’s progress and provide regular feedback to ensure continuous development. Support the student in developing independence in both academic and social settings, promoting self-confidence and autonomy. Foster positive relationships with the student, encouraging engagement, motivation, and a love of learning. Requirements: Experience working with students with SEN, particularly within a secondary school setting (experience with autism, ADHD, or SEMH is desirable). Relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, staff, and parents. A patient, proactive, and empathetic approach, with a commitment to making a difference in the life of a student.
