The Opportunity
Join Pāmu in this newly created position as our new Health, Safety & Wellbeing Business Partner. Be part of a team that values innovation, collaboration, and best practice health, safety, and wellbeing principles.
This is an exciting time to join us, as we uplift the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing of Pāmu and support the delivery of our strategy.
This role offers you the chance to make significant improvements across Pāmu and the wider agriculture sector.
While you could be based anywhere in the South Island, ideally you will be based in the Canterbury region for easy access to our South Island farms. This position is mainly office-based, with travel to various farms and facilities as required, which could be up to once or twice a week.
In this role, you will:
1. Enhance our Safety Culture: Lead and implement health, safety, and wellbeing programs that foster a culture of safety and compliance across our 112 farms and operations. This will include trend analysis into what’s happening now and making informed recommendations for the future.
2. Develop Standards: Assist in the development and implementation of our critical risk standards and assurance framework. Update health, safety, and wellbeing documentation, ensuring they meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practice.
3. Coach and Mentor: Partner with our people to provide guidance and training to teams, helping them to adopt best practices and improve their safety and wellbeing practices.
4. Drive Continuous Improvement: Be a subject matter expert in Health, Safety, and Wellbeing and monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives, making recommendations for improvements based on data and feedback.

About You
To succeed in this role, you ideally have:
1. A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience at a senior level in health, safety, and wellbeing.
2. Demonstrated experience in critical risk frameworks and developing and implementing health and safety programs, technical writing, and conducting risk assessments.
3. Strong analytical, communication, and mentoring skills, with the ability to coach teams and drive safety improvements proactively.
4. Comfortable with travel and capable of working independently and across various farms and facilities.
5. Work collaboratively with a remote team to drive and influence positive safety outcomes.
