The Landing Gear Market specializes in the design, qualification, manufacture, and repair and overhaul of landing gears and flight critical components to a customer base that extends from the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to the Operators in both the commercial and military markets.
Summary of position:
This role has 2 available positions, one is for a Senior Manufacturing Programming Engineer and the other would be available for an individual who has some knowledge and has a keen willingness to learn the extra skills.
Main responsibilities:
1. NC Programming
2. Creation of NC programs using Catia V5 on 3, 4 and 5 axis machines.
3. Utilise Vericut to ensure that all the programs conform to all stage and finish part drawings.
4. Create all Tool builds and put into the Catia Tool Library.
5. Utilise the latest cutting strategies in conjunction with Tooling suppliers.
6. Ensure that all Tooling is ordered.
7. Ensure that Programming deadlines are strictly adhered to.
8. Ensure that all CAPEX spend is strictly monitored and in budget.
9. Accurate entry of geometry for part programming.
10. Exhibit GD&T proficiency.
11. Manufacturing Shop Floor Support
12. Ensure that all Programs and Tooling are available prior to Manufacture.
13. Work alongside machinist proving out first article production of new parts, or re-programmed parts.
14. Open dialogue with machinists relative to continuous improvement of part programs.
15. System/Process integrity
16. Assist Engineering Manager and NPI Co-Ordinator in defining CNC program guidelines. Liaise with the NPI Co-Ordinator to ensure that guidelines are being followed.
17. Ensure that all drawings and models are issue level maintained.
18. Ensure that all programs are issue level maintained.
19. Ensure Full NPI protocol and process structured and ran in accordance with QMS.
20. Track Deadlines and timescales accordingly.
21. Ensure PFMEA’s implemented.
22. All Capex raised and budgeted through Engineering manager.
23. Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by Senior Management.
Qualifications:
1. Completed an Engineering apprenticeship.
2. 2 years minimum Catia V5 experience on 3, 4 and 5 axis machines.
3. Advanced Engineering qualifications would benefit but not essential.
4. Must understand technical data, drawings, and diagrams.
5. Ideally have 3D modelling experience (Catia V5 primary, Solid works secondary).
6. Experienced in the utilisation/use of Vericut.
7. Must understand aerospace manufacturing processes.
8. Has experience of both Machining and Programming a variety of materials especially Aluminium and 300M.
9. Has experience of 5 axis machining on both Milling and Mill turn machines.
