About the Role
We are seeking a talented and versatile Design Teacher to take on a full-time, fixed-term position, starting in January and lasting until January 2026. This role is ideal for an educator with a broad skill set who can teach Textiles, Timbers, Graphics, Product Design, and Food Technology to secondary-aged students. You will be joining a forward-thinking, supportive department that values innovation and aims to inspire creativity and practical skills in every student.
Responsibilities:
1. Planning and Delivering Lessons across various design and technology disciplines, adapting your teaching to meet the diverse needs of students from Key Stages 3 to 5.
2. Fostering a Positive Learning Environment where students feel empowered to explore their creativity and develop hands-on skills in textiles, woodwork, graphic design, product design, and food technology.
3. Engaging Students in Practical and Theoretical Knowledge that combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, preparing students with skills they can use both in further study and in real-world contexts.
4. Collaborating with Colleagues in the design and technology department to continually improve the curriculum and share resources and best practices.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential for teaching in a secondary school environment.
2. Experience or Specialisation in Design and Technology, particularly in Textiles, Timbers, Graphics, Product Design, and Food Technology. This includes both practical and theoretical aspects of each subject area.
3. Passion for Inspiring Creativity and the ability to foster a positive learning environment that encourages students to think critically and develop practical skills.
4. Strong Communication and Classroom Management Skills to engage students of varying skill levels.
5. A Flexible and Adaptable Approach to teaching, capable of adjusting to the specific needs of our diverse student body.
