Job Purpose:
You'll improve overall drainage performance and provide excellent customer satisfaction through the resolution of reactive network asset failures / incidents where first time resolution hasn't been achieved. You'll act as the local day-to-day technical expert for all aspects of the drainage network and contribute to the development of a drainage performance improvement plan.
Job Accountabilities:
You'll be responsible for responding to primarily reactive work on the Wastewater Network whilst also contributing to the development of planned programmes of work and investment needs. You'll also be responsible for:
* The analysis of network data to identify failure trends, taking corrective action to improve overall drainage performance (Cmex, ODI; Cash; Health and Safety).
* Proactively identifying repeat incidents and implement necessary interventions to stop repeat failures.
* Facilitating the investigation of all incidents and asset failures to identify root cause and action possible solutions, escalating to the Drainage Delivery Engineer.
* Contributing to the development of maintenance schedules / planned / proactive programmes of work.
* Identifying investment needs on the Wastewater Network, and create problem notes for Very Small Projects (VSP'S) or mitigation, and raise planned serviceability works, and send to Project Engineer, as required.
* Building an awareness of the availability of M&E assets in the area through regular communication with the Technical Officer and Wastewater Network Maintenance team. Identifying failures which have had a detriment to the network.
* Drafting written responses to customers, MPs, Councillors and other key stakeholders.
* Taking ownership of escalated customer problems and managing customer expectations accordingly.
* Reducing customer complaints and respond to customer contacts in order of preventing repeat contact and improving customer satisfaction and Service Incentive Mechanism (SIM) performance, as required.
* Ensuring compliance with UUW health and safety policies and procedures at all times.
* Ensuring compliance with the flooding, blockage, odour, pollution, collapse, defective apparatus, ancillaries and further works policies and procedures, and Environment Agency protocol.
* Issuing S159 notices to land owners and/or occupiers for gaining access to private land, as required.
* To provide technical support and guidance to Delivery teams and other team members, as required.
* Ensure the pollution risk management database is kept up to date at all times, and improvement actions are completed within the agreed timescales.
* Participate on the standby rota.
Knowledge and Skills:
To be considered for this role you will be prepared to work towards a BTEC in Sewerage Engineering, together with Health and Safety training, including CDM, NRSWA, manual handling and confined spaces. You must have the following:
* 5 GCEs Grade C or above, or current Equivalent qualifications must include Maths and English Language.
* Good understanding of IT systems and their capabilities.
* Commercial awareness - able to identify opportunities.
* Extensive knowledge and experience of day-to-day drainage system and associated maintenance techniques.
* Excellent wastewater regulatory understanding.
* Good understanding of the Network Maintenance Alliances / Service providers.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and Customer Service skills.
* Reporting and presentation skills (both oral and written).
* Good problem solving skills.
* Good team working.
* Excellent time management and organisational skills - able to work to deadlines and achieve personal objectives.
* Full UK driving licence.
