Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant – Levenshulme
Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time position starts in October and runs until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming permanent based on performance. The role offers a competitive weekly pay of £419.25 to £500.
Role Overview:
As a Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be an integral part of the Humanities department, supporting the teaching and learning of subjects such as History, Geography, and Religious Studies. This role is ideal for recent Humanities graduates looking to gain valuable experience in education and make a meaningful impact on students' academic journeys.
Key Responsibilities:
* Classroom Support: Assist Humanities teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons. You will work closely with students, particularly those who need additional support, to help them understand complex concepts and stay on track with their studies.
* Small Group and One-to-One Tutoring: Provide focused support to students through small group sessions or individual tutoring. Your role will involve helping students with coursework, revision, and developing their understanding of key Humanities topics.
* Resource Preparation: Assist in the preparation and organization of lesson materials, including worksheets, presentations, and assessment tasks. Your input will help enhance the quality of the lessons and ensure that all students have the resources they need to succeed.
* Exam Preparation: Support students in their preparation for GCSEs and other key assessments. You will help with revision sessions, practice exams, and the development of effective study strategies tailored to Humanities subjects.
* Behavior and Classroom Management: Work alongside the classroom teacher to maintain a positive and productive learning environment. You will help manage classroom behavior and support students in staying focused and engaged during lessons.
* Monitoring Progress: Track and assess the academic progress of students, identifying those who may need extra help. You will provide feedback to teachers and assist in tailoring support to meet the individual needs of learners.
* Fostering a Love for Humanities: Encourage students to develop a passion for Humanities subjects, helping them see the relevance of these disciplines in understanding the world around them. Your enthusiasm for the subjects will inspire students to engage more deeply with their studies.
* Extracurricular Involvement: Take part in extracurricular activities related to Humanities, such as clubs, field trips, or after-school study sessions. Your involvement will provide students with opportunities to explore Humanities topics beyond the classroom.
Ideal Candidate:
* A recent Humanities graduate with a strong academic background in subjects like History, Geography, or Religious Studies.
* An interest in pursuing a career in education, with a genuine desire to support and inspire students.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and accessible way.
* A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Experience working with young people, either through volunteering, tutoring, or in a school setting, is beneficial but not required.
* A commitment to helping students achieve their academic potential and a willingness to go above and beyond to support their learning.
