About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Engagement and Events team as Corporate Engagement and Consultation Manager. You will take a lead role in embedding good practice in engagement and consultation work across the Council. This is a great opportunity if you are an experienced engagement manager who thrives in working at a fast tempo across a number of projects. Hounslow is ambitious in how we engage with our community and you will need to ensure we stay at the top of our game, challenging outdated approaches and upskilling colleagues across the Council. You will have senior level experience of supporting a diverse community into having a meaningful input into decision making and service development.
About The Team You’ll Be Working In
The Engagement and Events team is based in the corporate heart of the Council. We work alongside very senior officers and elected Members, developing best practice in engagement and consultation and ensuring regulatory needs. We also lead engagement sessions within the community. Our team also leads on best practice within consultation and surveys.
You will work to the Head of Engagement and Events. You will directly manage 4 officers. Your role will include:
1. Developing and rolling out impactful resident engagement strategies which are driven by data and prove a clear line of influence from our residents into decision making.
2. Embedding and promoting an impactful Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy into all elements of engagement and consultation.
3. Applying the most appropriate form of engagement framework, which will include embedding the Lundy model into engagement with our most vulnerable residents.
4. Management of the corporate consultation and engagement platform.
About You
You will have a strong background in operational engagement practices and have progressed onto strategy development. You will understand the impact of engagement and consultation on Council decision making and be able to succinctly describe this to residents, stakeholders and colleagues. You will need to bring:
1. A strong knowledge of good practice around participatory engagement methods and experience of practical application.
2. An understanding of the good practice around consultation.
3. An ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
4. Experience of staff management, priority setting and coaching your team.
5. A commitment to reducing inequalities and an understanding of how this applies to community engagement.
6. An analytical approach to research and service development, and producing insightful reports with measurable proposals.
