The Stopford Undergraduate Teaching Laboratories (SUGT) is a large suite of labs which supports practical teaching for all undergraduate students within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine & Health. This is an exciting opportunity for a hardworking individual with a general interest in science and a desire to work in a laboratory. Direction and full supervision will be given.
We are looking to appoint a term-time only (39 weeks per year, pro rata) Assistant Technician to support teaching activities within our suite of teaching laboratories. The main purpose of the role is in the provision of basic technical support, to assist with undergraduate teaching activities. The postholder will assist more senior technical staff in the setting out and clearing away of practical classes and examinations. This will involve setting out apparatus and equipment, as well as occasional additional ad hoc tasks such as packing laboratory items for field course studies.
N.B. The role is a 2-year fixed term position, pending the outcome of a review of the technical service provision across the Faculty.
