Positive OT & Case Management Ltd is a company specialising in providing costed case management services and occupational therapy assessment reports for children and adults with complex needs. Their interventions are tailored to the client's needs with a focus on increasing independence and quality of life.
Role Description
We have an exciting opportunity to make a difference in a child's life. We are looking for a caring and proactive Children's Support Worker to join our team, supporting a wonderful 2-year-old with severe dyskinetic cerebral palsy and complex medical needs.
Work Schedule:
1. Wednesday: 12:00 - 16:00 (4 hours)
2. Thursday: 11:00 - 17:00 (6 hours)
3. Sunday: 11:00 - 17:00 (6 hours)
There may be opportunities for more hours in the future as relationships with the family are established and our client's needs evolve.
Rates of Pay: £15 per hour on weekdays
Experience Required: Previous experience with these conditions is advantageous, but not essential, as full training will be provided. Flexibility, especially regarding travel and the potential for increased hours, is important.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Medication Administration: Assisting with administering prescribed medications.
2. Personal Care: Helping with changing, bathing, dressing, and oral hygiene.
3. Feeding Assistance: Supporting with feeding and managing feeding tubes.
4. Mobility and Handling: Providing support with the child’s movement and ensuring comfort and safety.
5. Activities: Engaging the child in home activities, community outings, and accompanying on appointments or activities, as needed.
6. Travel: Assisting the family on UK and potentially abroad holidays, with all expenses covered.
7. Hydrotherapy: Occasionally assisting the child to attend hydrotherapy sessions with his therapist.
Special Requirements:
1. Communication: The child is non-verbal, communicating through smiles, vocalisations, and gestures. Enjoys sensory play and interactive activities, especially related to Cocomelon.
2. Mobility Assistance: The child uses a wheelchair and a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle, so a driving licence and willingness to drive the child’s vehicle for appointments and activities is required.
You’ll work with an experienced multidisciplinary team to support the child’s therapeutic needs and follow management plans. Most of the work will be within the child’s home, assisting alongside the family.
