Job overview
Community paediatrics is a specialised branch of paediatrics focused on the provision of healthcare services to children within the community. The Child Development Team (CDT) is a multidisciplinary group of healthcare and educational professionals who assess, diagnose, and manage developmental, behavioural, and learning issues in children.
This role involves managing patient records, scheduling appointments, handling correspondence, and performing various clerical tasks.
Main duties of the job
* Provide administrative and clerical support to paediatricians and other healthcare professionals.
* Manage patient records and schedule appointments.
* Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient operation of paediatric services.
* Ensure compliance with Trust policies and local protocols.
* Maintain confidentiality and apply initiative in all aspects of work.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Provide high-quality administrative, clerical, and secretarial service within the Child Development Team.
* Deliver a high-quality reception service.
* Operate a desktop PC/laptop for drafting and typing clinical letters and reports.
* Support organization of monthly meetings, including preparation of agendas and transcribing minutes.
* Receive and manage telephone calls and emails from outside agencies.
* Provide statistics and departmental reports as required.
* Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with local policies.
* Manage problem situations as they arise.
* Communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders.
Person specification
Education and qualifications
* GCSE Pass grades of C and above in English and Maths or equivalent.
* Evidence of continuing development.
* At least 2 years of previous NHS experience.
* Previous experience in a paediatric/community setting.
Skills and abilities
* Extensive use and knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes.
* Demonstrate a high standard of communication skills.
* Methodical and organized.
