The Clinical Technology Service is looking to recruit a Technical Manager for our Wheelchair Service, based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.
The provides highly specialised clinical rehabilitation technology services across The Highlands, Western Isles and Moray.
The post holder will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Wheelchair workshop, stores, delivery and repairs service, including line management of a friendly team of approximately 8 staff. The post holder will work in conjunction with the technical leads for the Prosthetics and Orthotics services, and will provide assistance and cover as required.
The post holder’s duties will include managing the procurement, servicing, maintenance and refurbishment of equipment, and assure service performance against national standards. The postholder will also assure compliance with health and safety standards, and Medical Devices Regulations (MDR).
The post holder will work closely with clinical colleagues to ensure a seamless service for patients across the range of Assistive Technology services that the Rehabilitation Engineering workshop supports. The post holder will be required to be flexible in their approach and adaptable to service requirements and developments.
The service will relocate across Inverness, from the Longman Industrial Estate to Raigmore Hospital, in May 2025. This is an exciting and critical time to lead a skilled, dedicated, supportive team through a substantial change, and to positively influence the service we provide to communities across the north of Scotland.
Aptitude and experience in a technical, public-facing service, and managing staff, will be vital, but support and training will be available.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
