Service Manager vacancy in Portsmouth (036DM)
The ideal candidates would be those who come from an engineering background and have gained some experience leading teams.
The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the completion of PPM, Reactive, and Remedial work, ensuring that any follow-up tasks are scheduled and managed through to completion. A key aspect of this role is fostering an environment where the team can thrive. This includes building strong client relationships through clear, professional, and consistent communication on operational matters. Maintaining BJF’s reputation as the preferred supply partner is essential. Additionally, the Service Manager will provide technical advice as needed, supporting both the team and other areas of the business.
As a line manager, you will be responsible for guiding, motivating, mentoring, and developing your team of engineers. Given the critical nature of security, you must also ensure that all engineers maintain up-to-date security clearance to perform their roles effectively.
Requirements
1. Site Management
o Ensure the site's data is regularly updated on the client's CAFM systems.
o Ensure site estate meetings are attended as and when required.
o Update Admin regarding call out rota.
o Adhere to the company and client’s contract requirements.
o Ensure engineers and suppliers working with you are SHEQ compliant.
2. Operations - PPM
o Plan and execute efficient delivery of all Planned Maintenance tasks to ensure both statutory and mandatory Compliance.
o Manage the delivery of the planned maintenance programme.
o Ensure Supply Chain delivers contracted performance requirements, and all certification and documents are recorded and filed correctly.
o Ensure site is statutory compliant, providing BJF Group with assurance, identifying compliance failures and mitigating actions, and escalating where appropriate.
o Ensure the PPM works are completed by the 15th of the month they are scheduled in.
3. Operations – Reactive Works
o Work towards all remedial work being processed 3 days ahead of the calendar day you’re working in.
o Monitor and update clients CAFM system.
o Provide management information to Line Manager and Support Manager on reported tasks and performance.
o Provide cost information to Line Management to progress chargeable works.
o Ensure all callouts are attended to, in conjunction with the escalation procedure for both in and out of normal working hours.
4. Employee Management
o Liaison with senior managers and HR to ensure all HR procedures are followed.
o Manage, review and report on absence, disputes, grievances, and sickness, in line with company procedures.
o Identify causes for concern and escalate to line management where appropriate.
o Carry out annual appraisals of all engineers/technicians within your team.
5. Stakeholder Management
o Provide formal reports to company management and the client as and when required.
o Attend formal meetings with company management and the client as and when required.
o Provide ad hoc estate information for company management and the client.
o Act as point of contact to receive and action company, client external/internal Audit Teams feedback.
6. Financial and Commercial Management
o Understand the role that finance and commercial operate within the contract, with requirements in the relevant contract modules.
o Ensure adherence to company commercial processes and governance.
o Ensure adherence to the company Procurement Strategy and associated policies.
o Take ownership and responsibility in conjunction with the finance team and ensure effective cost control on site.
o Ensure that site level data is kept up to date and assistance provided to resolve any and all financial and commercial issues on a timely basis.
o To ensure that all works and activities undertaken by both the Delivery team and Supply Chain are provided to the required standard and in accordance with company and the client’s policy and procedures.
7. SHEQ
o Ensure the company and the client’s SSOW, H&S policy and procedures are in place and followed.
o Promote a positive proactive H&S culture across the whole team.
o Ensure accident prevention programme/process is in place.
o Ensure arrangements are in place to protect the health, safety, and welfare of all those who visit or use facilities under our control.
o Ensure attendance at client Site Safety meetings and ensure they are recorded and communicated to all staff where required.
