We are seeking an experienced and strategic Finance Manager to join our team at Avian Ecology. The role will oversee the finance function, ensuring effective financial management, compliance, and strategic decision-making to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Planning:
* Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure robust financial management.
* Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
* Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
Payroll & Benefits Management:
* Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC regulations.
* Manage pension schemes, ensuring compliance with auto-enrolment requirements.
* Oversee employee benefits administration, including health schemes and other company-provided perks.
Financial Transactions & Compliance:
* Complete month end Management accounts/Reports to Group deadlines
* Ensure accurate financial record-keeping, including accounts payable and receivable.
* Oversee invoice processing and bank transactions.
* Complete balance sheet reconciliations
* Ensure compliance with VAT returns and other statutory financial obligations.
* Liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Leadership & Process Improvement:
* Lead and develop the finance team, providing mentorship and training.
* Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
* Ensure adherence to financial policies and risk management procedures.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience in a finance management role, ideally within an SME or similar environment.
* Strong knowledge of UK financial regulations, payroll processing, and pension schemes.
* Expertise in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
* Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks).
* Strong knowledge of Excel
* Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
* Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
* Attention to detail
Qualifications:
* ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualification (or working towards).
* Strong understanding of UK financial regulations and compliance requirements.
