This presents a great opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services) to join one of Scotland's top 100 businesses in their Glasgow office. The successful candidate will develop their engineering skills on bespoke, technically challenging design and construct projects in specialist and regulated markets, working directly with world-leading end-user clients.
Role
1. Understanding project briefs and designing/specifying all Mechanical Building Services systems.
2. Preparing and reviewing documentation such as designs, specifications, assessment reports, and survey reports.
3. Managing the production of detailed calculations using industry-standard software tools.
4. Conducting site surveys, inspections, and monitoring site works.
5. Implementing detailed surveys of mechanical services and equipment to assess existing installations and gather information for new or upgraded design proposals.
6. Assisting in the development of junior engineers.
7. Writing reports and technical notes.
Qualifications / Experience
1. Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
2. Chartered status or working towards it with CIBSE or IET is preferred.
3. 5-10 years of experience in a design consultancy or similar environment.
4. Knowledge of mechanical design within the built environment.
5. Strong report writing skills and experience presenting to clients and attending meetings.
6. Detailed knowledge of relevant technical standards, with the ability to manage project deliverables and make independent decisions.
7. Proficiency in digital tools such as IES thermal modelling, Microsoft Office, and CAD.
