We have 1 endoscopy procedure suite with 5 recovery bays and an endoscopy decontamination unit. Endoscopy decontamination service is providing service cross site with two Wassenburg machines running service 24/7. We are performing endoscopic therapeutic intervention and surveillance procedures covering the North West London and regional referrals including private patients. We are currently recruiting due to expansion of service, and if you are an experienced motivated endoscopy practitioner, we would like to invite you to join our unique diverse team. The successful candidate will play a central role in working as part of a motivated and committed senior endoscopy practitioner at the RMH Chelsea. This will involve working with a wide range of complex cases.
You will have clinical experience in endoscopy and pre-assessment, and with the relevant experience in the care of patients for endoscopy intervention. We strive for excellence in all that we do and value the importance of reflection, critical thinking, and promote professional development.
Main duties of the job
1. To plan, document, deliver and evaluate evidence-based nursing care for patients in a responsible and efficient way, which has been drawn up in conjunction with the co-ordinator of the shift.
2. To develop a greater awareness and understanding of the needs of patients with cancer and the different treatment modalities administered within the unit.
3. To develop an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of managing a shift with the guidance of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.

Job responsibilities
1. To be aware of the side effects of any treatment in progress, and adopt a problem-solving approach to minimise the potentially adverse reactions.
2. Be involved in the direct delivery of skilled specialised nursing care with supervision until competent, e.g. wound dressings, removal of drains, and insertion of urinary catheters.
3. To develop an awareness of the protocols involved for patients undergoing clinical trials.
4. To be aware of all hospital policies and procedures and collaborate with other health care professionals to ensure that these are observed.
5. To be rostered as part of the ward to care for patients over a 24 hr period.
Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
1. Registration
2. Evidence of ongoing professional development
3. Qualification in oncology or speciality
4. Diploma or Degree level study (or equivalent)
5. Recognised teaching qualification
Experience
1. Experience in intravenous drug administration
2. Sufficient post-registration nursing experience in oncology or speciality to be confident and competent in using the required skills to do the job
3. Experience in chemotherapy administration
4. Experience in Clinical Management
5. Evidence of relevant teaching experience
6. Knowledge and understanding of clinical trials management
Skills Abilities/knowledge
