The role and who we are looking for We have an exciting opportunity for a Management Accountant to join our Finance team. Closely supporting and reporting to the Finance Director, this hands-on role will be responsible for overseeing day-day management reporting aspects of the Finance function to help drive growth and profitability. The successful candidate will be an ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant with previous experience of working in a professional services environment (ideally at a legal practice, although this is not essential). The position would suit a confident and motivated individual with the ability to drive positive change within the Finance team through effective problem-solving. Excellent communication skills are key, and you will be able to effectively liaise with a variety of key stakeholders across the Firm. Advanced computer skills and experience of data interrogation are essential for this role. The ideal candidate will also be analytical, innovative and commercially aware, constantly striving to identify opportunities for improvements and efficiencies. Typical day to day duties will include: Preparing and analysing management accounts and business progress reports Balance sheet reconciliations - including the preparation of accruals and prepayments; fixed asset register maintenance. Preparing and analysing budgets, cash-flow forecasts and general financial management reports Monitoring and managing cash flow and debt and WIP control processes and outstanding value of work Reporting on key performance indicators and trends influencing business performance and developing measures and initiatives to help drive improvement including proactively enhancing reporting processes Undertaking financial administration Leading on external accounting and SRA Account Rules audits and working collaboratively with external accountants and audits to ensure that statutory accounts are completed promptly and effectively and resolving any findings Dealing with taxation matters concerning the company Interrogating SQL databases to perform data analysis on an ad hoc basis Improving data dashboards by utilising Microsoft Power BI or equivalent Assisting with the evaluation of financial software and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy Assisting the Finance Director and working closely with the Head Legal Cashier in reviewing, assessing, monitoring and refining internal financial procedures and controls to ensure compliance with all regulatory rules (including the SRA Accounts Rules) and internal guidelines and ensuring that they support the current activities and future growth of the Firm Acting as first point of contact in relation to financial queries and working alongside the Head Legal Cashier to provide appropriate training, as required Responsibility for cost management and overseeing spend with external supplier Benefits include: Generous annual leave, day off on your birthday, private healthcare, discretionary bonus scheme, smart working, flexible working hours, health and wellbeing contribution, regular team and firmwide socials, volunteer day, milestone awards, death in service scheme, a contributory pension scheme, genuine career progression and both technical and professional learning and development programmes.
