PLC and Electrical Systems Engineer
Our globally established and highly recognised Client continues to be the market leader for the design, manufacture and supply of an extensive range of machine tool equipment. With a design and manufacturing operation in Worcester, they have a requirement for a PLC and Electrical Systems Engineer.
Having a solid background in Electrical Control Systems, the successful candidate will be responsible for programming, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing Mitsubishi PLCs in industrial environments. Therefore, a strong understanding of electrical control systems, automation processes and relevant standards is essential for this role.
Key responsibilities include:
PLC Programming and Troubleshooting:
: Develop, test, and maintain Mitsubishi PLC programs for new and existing equipment.
: Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in Mitsubishi PLC systems and associated control panels.
: Modify PLC programs to optimize performance or accommodate system upgrades.
Electrical Control Systems:
: Design, install, and commission electrical control systems for CNC machines and automation equipment.
: Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
: Ensure all systems meet electrical standards and safety regulations (e.g., IEC, NEC, CE).
Maintenance and Optimization:
: Provide regular maintenance and support for Mitsubishi PLC systems and electrical control systems.
: Integrate Mitsubishi PLCs with HMIs, SCADA systems, sensors, and other industrial control devices.
: Perform system testing, calibration, and validation to ensure optimal performance.
Technical Documentation:
: Create and maintain technical documentation, including electrical schematics, PLC programs, and operational procedures.
: Ensure accurate documentation of all modifications and updates to control systems.
Compliance and Safety:
: Ensure that all electrical installations comply with relevant health and safety regulations.
: Collaborate with safety teams to implement machine safety systems and ensure compliance with l5O and other safety standards.
Training and Support:
: Provide training and technical support to colleagues and operators on Mitsubishi PLC systems and control systems.
: Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical and control issues across the plant.
To support this role, you should have:
: Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field (or equivalent experience).
: Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
: Strong experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical control systems.
: Proficiency in Mitsubishi PLC programming (e.g., GX Works, GX Developer, MELSEC).
: In:depth knowledge of electrical control systems, including panel wiring, motor controls, and power distribution.
: Familiarity with IEC, NEC, and other relevant electrical standards.
: Hands:on experience with automation and control systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
: Knowledge of other PLC platforms (Siemens, Allen:Bradley) is a plus.
: Strong problem:solving skills and analytical thinking.
: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
: e.g., 18th Edition, CompEx, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
: Mitsubishi PLC or equivalent certifications will be a plus.
