An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced nurse to join our 24/7 Critical Care Outreach Team. This Band 6 Critical Care Outreach Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse post is an excellent opportunity to advance your clinical knowledge, develop clinical examination and diagnostic skills while caring for acutely deteriorating patients within our Trust. There is an opportunity to undertake our bespoke Outreach Foundation Programme and then develop further in the team to gain Band 7 trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner post.
Main Duties of the Job
You will be required to work cross site at both Basingstoke and Winchester hospitals to provide an integrated hospital wide approach to critical care. You will provide support and follow up to post critical care patients in ward areas and provide ongoing support for patient care and management. Within the outreach team you will support ward based nursing and medical staff to enable them to recognise and treat deteriorating patients within the ward area, helping to prevent avoidable critical care admissions and ward based cardiac arrests. You will co-ordinate and facilitate the appropriate transfer of patients into critical care and the high dependency unit. In this role you will provide education and training to nursing and multi-professional teams across both sites regarding the deteriorating patient. Both in role training and University based education will be provided to support the skills required for this post.

Person Specification
Training and Qualifications
* Registered nurse (degree level) minimum 2.2 degree.
* Recognised Mentorship course.
* Evidence of recent and significant post registration development within critical care field.
* Deteriorating patient training.
* Tracheostomy training.
* ALS.
* History taking and physical examination course.
* Formal transfer training.
Experience and Knowledge
* Significant recent critical care experience as a sister/charge nurse.
* Evidence of skills in leading clinical teams.
* Evidence of critical care skills to care for level 2 and level 3 patients.
* Demonstrated teaching/coaching skills.
* Demonstrated managerial and communication skills.
* Leadership course.
Skills and Ability
* Set up, titrate and manage non-invasive ventilation.
* Assist anaesthetic staff during intubation.
* Good organisation skills - educating and co-orientating delivery of care.
* Demonstrate recent ability to care for level 2 and level 3 patients.
* Take and analyse Atrial blood gas samples from patients' wrist (needle technique).
