We have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, enthusiastic and innovative pharmacy technician to join our practice team, based at Newport Pagnell Medical Centre, but you may be required to work at any of our sites. This role is offered on a part-time basis, for 18 hours per week. The successful candidate will benefit from this opportunity to build up strong working relationships, across our organisation, and will be actively involved in how their role evolves over time. The main responsibilities of the role include: Support the multidisplinary team to ensure efficient medicines optimisation procedures are followed. Stream general prescription requests and work with the reception and acute script team, so as to allow GPs and clinical pharmacists to review more clinically complex requests. Assist patients, colleagues and external healthcare professionals with responses to medication queries. With support of the GP and pharmacy team, action medicine changes from clinical letters and specialist requests, in line with local formulary and prescribing guidelines. Provide training and support on the legal, safe and secure handling of medicines, including the implementation and increased use of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS). Implement efficient ordering and return processes and reduce medication wastage, liaising with patients as needed. Support the implementation of national prescribing policies and guidance within GP practices, care homes and other primary care settings. Reauthorise and synchronise repeat prescriptions appropriately, ensuring patients have had, or are invited to, medication monitoring blood tests and clinical reviews. Help to organise and run various systems for the delivery of QOF and locally commissioned enhanced services. Support cost-effective prescribing through switching medicines to recommended, cost-effective alternatives Review and develop policies in line with CQC compliance. Develop relationships with other pharmacy professionals and members of the multi-disciplinary team including primary care, community pharmacy, secondary care and mental health. Contribute to the delivery of effective daily processes for the transfer of care between hospitals and GPs including effective signposting, record updates and relay communication. Please see full job description attached. About the Candidate The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, skills and experience: A registered pharmacy technician with the GPhC. Have strong experience in either a community pharmacy or a primary care setting. Be confident in analysing and presenting information to health professionals. Have e xperience of implementing and promoting cost-effective strategies. Have the a bility to interpret complex clinical information and present it in suitable formats, to a variety of people from professional and non-professional backgrounds.
