The Langford Centre is a highly specialised Mental Health Hospital based in Bexhill on Sea.
As the Lead Occupational Therapist, you will lead the OT team from the front. Using the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) as a framework, you will carry out specialist assessments, develop and implement occupational therapy interventions, focusing on daily living and vocational skills, in consultation/conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.
Key responsibilities of the Lead Occupational Therapist role will include:
* To manage a caseload of in-patients with mental illness who have a forensic history and/or behaviours that challenge
* To carry out assessments of activities of daily living to determine a patients level of functioning
* Carrying out Occupational Therapy intervention with patients. Planning individual treatment programmes specific to their needs.
* To take responsibility for the planning, facilitation and evaluation of the group OT programme within the service
* To provide a consultative role in the planning and delivering of a ward-based activity programme
* To provide OT interventions which are ward-based and community-based, promoting social inclusion and recovery
* To evaluate OT treatment and ensure outcome measures are recorded
* To take on the role of vocational lead within the hospital
* To provide clinical and management supervision to the wider OT team and Technical Instructors
* To participate in stock taking/ordering of required items within OT department
* To develop a knowledge of the local community and resources provided for people with a severe mental illness
Some of Your Managerial Duties Will Be:
* To be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Occupational Therapy service within the hospital. Act as Corporate lead and prepare reports and attend Corporate Clinical Governance when required
* To provide clinical and management supervision to the wider OT team and Technical Instructors
* To participate in stock taking/ordering of required items within OT department
* To develop a knowledge of the local community and resources provided for people with a severe mental illness
About you, the successful Lead Occupational Therapist
* Be a registered Occupational Therapist with HCPC
* Have previous experience of working as an OT in mental health / forensic / hospital setting.
