Understanding and meeting the needs of our consumers is at the heart of homecare product development. As a part of Claims, KBS and Performance team you will work in a multi-disciplinary business environment, ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical insights and data to support our Global Innovation Portfolio. This 100% laboratory-based role will play an important part deploying performance tests under consumer relevant conditions for us to design winning formulations, support our product communications and develop and validate compelling product demonstrations. In Homecare R&D we adopt a digital first approach in designing and executing performance tests therefore we also expect the data capture as an outcome of all laboratory experiments using tools like LIMS, ELN & SDC.
JOB PURPOSE
You will join the Claims, KBS and Performance group in Homecare Dishwash Global Research & Development team and work closely with Global formulation, digital and performance team members. Execute laboratory experiments for product assessment, claim support and demo development purposes and generate reports in LIMS, ELN & SDC.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Working with Performance Claims and KBS team members to execute small and big scale dishwash experiments for performance and sensory testing serving to formulation assessment, new technology assessment, performance transference modelling work, claim support and product demonstrations.
* Ordering dish load for the experiment. Making ballast loads and wash loads ready.
* Capable of working with different set of equipment in laboratory including dishwash machines and small-scale appraisal equipment.
* Visual acuity to discriminate between products performance (sensory assessment).
* Planning and organising dish loads, stains and standard test monitor stocks to meet testing requirements.
* Capturing and reporting the outcome of experiments using digital tools (ELN & SDC).
* Budget management for the Claims & KBS team using Easy budget tool and reporting the status monthly.
* Preparing and sending articles, stain materials and products to external laboratories.
* Attending appropriate team meetings and making the laboratory work plan on a weekly basis with an agile flexible mindset.
* Work according to laboratory safety rules to keep laboratory environment clean and safe for all, ensuring compliance with COSHH and SOP requirements.

* Good organisation and time-management.
* Excellent communication & interpersonal skills. A bias for action.
* Ability to use digital tools like MS Excel, Power Point, LIMS, ELN & SDC and report the outcome of an experiment in a clear concise way.
* Experimental design, familiarity with statistical tools, statistical data analysis and statistical interpretation of data.
* Problem solving skills with practical creativity.
* Ability to work within multi-functional teams both internal and external.
* Attention to detail and accuracy in assessment and reporting is critical.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
* BSc or MSc (or equivalent) in Physical Sciences or Engineering (including Physics, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry or Biochemistry).
* Experience in an industrial or academic science area requiring measurement and data handling / analysis.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
* Experience of FMCG or the detergents sector.
* Knowledge around stains and/or stain removal from surfaces.
* Textile testing / Washing machine testing experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This job is 100% laboratory based and requires a full-time laboratory presence.
Occasional travel may be required.
