Clinical Engineering Technician (Community)
SCL/CDD Services are looking to recruit a skilled, hardworking, flexible, enthusiastic, customer-focused individual to join our team.
We are currently looking for a Clinical Engineer to join the Clinical Engineering team in providing effective & efficient medical device repair and maintenance services.
The successful candidate will play an integral role within the team in ensuring that complex medical devices are effectively and safely maintained across the Trust.
Successful post holder will have experience within Clinical Engineering and be able to work in a friendly, efficient manner, have good communication & organisational skills. They will have the ability to multitask & prioritise workload. Ideally, they will have attained some specialist manufacturer training and will be able to apply their knowledge effectively as required by the role.
The ability to adapt to changing work demands is essential.
A working understanding of ISO quality systems and the MIA process is advantageous.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Provide professional engineering support to the community premises under Clinical Engineering's responsibility.
2. Multitask and prioritise own heavy workloads.
3. Control and implementation of particular backlog maintenance projects/blocks of work to ensure efficient and effective completion often involving multi-disciplined teams.
4. Authorised to generate orders including external repairs, spare parts and equipment accessories up to a £500 limit.
5. Carry out servicing, repair and calibration of equipment of complex medical systems, occasionally in stressful situations with equipment patient connected.
6. Be able to understand and communicate technical information with colleagues and other healthcare professionals.

Job Responsibilities
1. Provide mobile professional engineering support to the community locations under the Clinical Engineering Departments responsibility.
2. Organise community servicing by liaising with various end users to ensure that planned maintenance and unplanned repair work is completed in an acceptable timeframe.
3. Carry out calibration, maintenance, service and repair of complex, multi-faceted and specialist equipment and systems.
4. Carry out acceptance testing and commissioning of equipment and systems on behalf of the Trust in conjunction with relevant functional specialists to verify compliance to Department of Health Codes of Practice, British and Euro Standards and Statutory and mandatory legislation i.e. EAWR and Health & Safety Policy/Procedures.
5. Requisition spare parts and accessories to effect efficient and cost-effective repairs to faulty equipment and thereby minimise equipment downtime.
6. Accurately generate Trust Asset numbers for new Medical & Surgical equipment ensuring all appropriate purchase details are completed.
7. Administer equipment onto the Planned Preventative Maintenance Scheme to ensure continuity of maintenance in line with the equipment status.
8. Be proactive in suggesting improvements to and work within the Quality System to provide continuity and compliance to EN ISO 9001:2015 for Clinical Engineering Trust wide.
9. Control and implementation of particular backlog maintenance projects/blocks of work to ensure efficient and effective completion often involving multi-disciplined teams.
10. Assist in training nurses and other staff in aspects of equipment use.
11. Input into the maintenance of safe systems of work through audit, measurement and control.
12. Identify maintenance contracts previously carried out by outside agencies to be managed in-house in order to realise cost efficiencies for the Trust.
13. Support the Central Equipment Loan Library on equipment issues of a technical and decontamination nature.

Special Skills & Knowledge
* Knowledge of Computerised Systems for labour, stock & asset management.
* Organisational skills.
* Analytical skills.
* Ability to work unsupervised and lone site working.
* Ability to organise and manage a complex heavy workload.
* Knowledge of Quality Systems including ISO9001: 2000.
Statutory Registration
* Professional Registration with a related organisation or body.
Experience
* Clinical Engineering Experience.
Qualifications
* Have obtained, or working towards, an ONC / HNC in Engineering, preferably Electronics, or another relevant L4 qualification.
* Manufacturer training on medical devices.
Special Requirements
* Able to travel across Trust sites to meet the requirements of the post.
