Who we Are?
Working as part of the integrated IMRDS for Capital Delivery, reporting to the mains renewal senior engineer, you will oversee the design and engineering of the capital mains renewal schemes that fall within the Capital Delivery planned work programme. Predominantly focusing on Trenchless and no dig techniques including insitu structural liners, championing innovative solutions to reduce scope of works to maximise benefit and capitalisation across the AWS region safely, to budget and within agreed timescales. The designs will deliver cost and benefit efficiencies and facilitate the drive towards achievement of the AMP8 main Laying & efficiency targets, whilst adding value to the supply and network asset base.
Key Responsibilities
1. Actively engage in the DM governance processes for schemes being promoted for design ensuring that effective collaboration regarding need has been undertaken and appropriate involvement in the scheme overview/ design packs prior to approval.
2. Own and plan the risk and value root cause analysis process for each request for solution design to ensure thorough analysis of business needs.
3. Visit site as necessary to undertake surveys, verify the proposed solution, identify equipment requirements, conduct site meetings with external stakeholders or support Delivery Team site checks.
4. Undertake customer liaison in the field and problem solving of customer issues. Ensure customer communication is in line with defined delivery process.
5. Maximise benefit within planned works by ensuring that the wider TOTEX opportunities available are considered in all solutions.
6. Project management of budget - targets for each scheme.
Qualifications, Behaviours & Skills
1. Qualified CDM designer / principle designer.
2. SMSTS Qualified & NRSWA supervisor trained.
3. Experience of contract management and site supervision.
4. Significant experience working on water engineering or similar engineering design projects.
5. Experience with water distribution systems.
6. Ability to shape the future company strategy.
7. Thorough understanding of the regulatory framework.
8. Experience of water supply and network operations.
9. Proven ability to understand the infrastructure from a strategic, tactical and operational perspective.
10. Proven ability of mains renewal design and engineering.
11. Balancing solution requirements with service delivery capabilities.
12. Good understanding and experience of the ROV process particularly Root Cause Analysis.
