It is situated opposite Berwickshire High School on a shared campus with the town swimming pool, rugby and football club. Duns PS has 13 classes at present and a large ELCC to accommodate 76 children. The school has spacious provision with access to the local woodlands and boardwalk. Pupils live locally or are bussed in from rural areas. Duns accommodates an Enhanced Provision wing and an afterschool club. Duns PS thrives on positive relationships. Essential A degree (or equivalent) or diploma in primary education (or PGCE/PGDE) along with strong evidence of continued personal professional development Full registration with the General Teaching Council (of Scotland) Evidence of personal commitment to management and leadership development As of 1st August 2020 all successful candidates appointed to a permanent Headteacher role in Scotland are required to hold the Standard for Headship, through completion of the Scottish Qualification for Headship (SQH), Flexible Route to Headship (FRH) or Into Headship. For those appointed, who do not yet hold the Standard for Headship, you will be required to complete the Into Headship qualification within 30 months of appointment. Please note: that those candidates who already or have previously held a permanent Headteacher position are not required to complete the Into Headship programme and will not need to complete it within 30 months of appointment. A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.
