Job Overview The Lead Compliance Engineer will take responsibility for identifying and analysing regulations across multiple markets (UK, EU, and US). From this analysis, they will define essential requirements and ensure effective communication with design engineers to support the development of compliant processes. Key Responsibilities Ensure the company’s products and systems meet all relevant regulatory and safety standards. Identify and interpret relevant standards, translating them into actionable requirements and specifications. Promote safety and environmental requirements within the company, supporting the development of compliant and eco-friendly products that align with sustainability goals. Lead efforts to improve compliance, safety, and sustainability processes within the engineering department to enhance operational efficiency and product quality. Oversee the requirements process from start to finish. Collaborate closely with systems and design engineers, ensuring all engineering activities meet regulatory requirements. Conduct internal audits and investigations to identify non-compliance issues, implementing corrective actions to improve product integrity. Manage and maintain compliance documentation, including test reports, technical files, and declarations of conformity. Qualifications & Experience Degree in Engineering or relevant field 5 years of experience in a compliance or safety engineering role, ideally in renewable energy, automotive, or transport refrigeration Strong understanding of UK, EU, and ideally, US regulatory environments Proven track record of bringing compliant products to market (CE, UKCA marking) Experience with requirements engineering and the V-model development process Experience working with regulatory bodies and obtaining certifications, especially in sustainability and environmental protection Ability to work effectively with design engineers, project managers, and other teams throughout the product lifecycle Strong background in conducting audits and implementing corrective actions to resolve non-compliance issues Benefits 30 days of annual leave (including a Wellbeing Day) Sabbatical after 3 years 5 free counselling sessions per year Family leave ranging from 4 weeks to 4 months Free monthly lunches & quarterly socials Cycle to Work Scheme Company-branded merchandise
