We are excited to offer a part-time Occupational Therapist rotational post between Coastal Lodge and CBIC (Christchurch and Bournemouth Intermediate Care); this post is the first trial to build a close working relationship between these two established teams and as such you will be integral to the improvement and service development.
Coastal Lodge provides rehabilitation and reablement to enable earlier hospital discharges, support individuals' rehabilitation and prevent hospital admissions. The caseload provides a wide variety of medical conditions and illnesses including orthopaedic, neurology, respiratory, complexity due to frailty and older person care. Coastal Lodge works Monday-Friday 8-4pm.
CBIC (Christchurch and Bournemouth Intermediate Care) is responsible for providing admission avoidance and support early discharges from acute hospitals. We provide assessment and treatment to acutely unwell patients within the community to support them in remaining at home. CBIC works 7 days per week; 8-8pm.
As this role will include community working, driving is essential and access to a car for work purposes.
The post would initially start within Coastal Lodge, with the base being located within the CBIC team and full access to the extended support available. A rotation into the CBIC team is to be planned in the near future. Rotations would likely be 1 year duration to enable the successful candidate the opportunity to fully embed and commence service improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership and work within the Bournemouth and Christchurch locality through provision of high standard Occupational Therapy assessments.
2. Develop specialist care and/or rehabilitation programmes to promote and sustain well-being for the individual or carer in the relevant setting, which may be a community, residential or health care environment.
3. Undertake assessment and development of Occupational Therapy/Rehabilitation/care programmes for adults with complex medical and social needs with the aim of improving independence, function and quality of life.
4. Contribute towards the development of individual teams and Occupational Therapy within inpatient rehabilitation or community Intermediate Care, through devising and implementing service change and auditing and evaluating both Occupational Therapist and multi-disciplinary practice.
5. Monitor standards of practice.
There will be an expectation to work bank holidays and weekends depending on your rotation at the time.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
Applications from candidates that require current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.
