Job Description
Perth & Kinross Council aims to provide the residents of Perth & Kinross area with a reliable refuse collection service.
As a Refuse Collection Loader, you will provide an invaluable service to the residents of the Perth & Kinross area, ensuring that their refuse is collected on a regular basis.
Your role will require you to collect waste and load it into a refuse collection vehicle on a specified route. You will uplift various types of waste, assist the drivers with the manoeuvring of the vehicle, and perform any other tasks required by the service. Compliance with the safe systems of work for refuse collection is essential.
This role operates on a shift pattern, specifically from Friday to Monday (36hrs). To comply with all Road Transport Regulations and to provide a continuous service 7 days a week, you may be required to work weekdays.
You will also be expected to be available to work on a standby basis, which includes working outside of your normal hours and being part of a standby rota. Standby work is usually planned in advance but may also be unforeseeable, requiring you to be available at short notice.
This is an opportunity for you to provide a vital service to the community by ensuring that all waste is removed, leaving a clean and tidy environment. You will have contact with members of the public and act as a representative of the Council.

The Individual
To be successful in this role, you will need to be physically fit and prepared to walk 20 miles per day while carrying heavy loads over rough ground in all weather conditions. A strong constitution with regards to adverse odours is necessary, and you must be prepared to work overtime, as the route will require completion every day.
