We have a client in South Tyneside who are recruiting for an Interim Principal Occupational Therapist to manage their Independent Living Service. The Independent Living Service comprises Occupational Therapy, Disability Housing Team and In-House Community Equipment Service. This role will play a key part in their journey to excellence, ensuring continuous improvement and embedding good practice standards. This role will be full-time and will be paid on an hourly rate, via an umbrella company – £39.85 Key responsibilities include: Be responsible for providing expert professional advice on complex cases, and provide operational management, as directed by the Head of Service, ensuring work is allocated and scheduled appropriately and that the Team completes all work on time and to the required standards. Ensure that people, their families and carers are listened to and encourage reflective practice and a shared ownership of decision making Lead effective performance management and quality assurance arrangements for the team to ensure high quality practice and that team performance contributes to the wider Adult Social Care performance agenda. Observe occupational therapists in practice and provide feedback through quality audit and supervision frameworks within the service. Provide regular practice reflection and supervision to colleagues and practitioners as required. Ensure that appropriate information, advice and guidance is available to people, their families and carers who may not be eligible for services to prevent, reduce and delay future needs in the service. What the candidate will need: Be a Qualified Occupational Therapist and registered with the HCPC Be able to demonstrate extensive management and operational experience Experience of safeguarding frameworks, processes and procedures as well as undertaking safeguarding enquiries and managing complex cases Good working knowledge, understanding and application of the Care Act and applying preventative and self-serve options to meet needs. Knowledge and understanding of other relevant legislation for adult social care.
