An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Specialist Service Division for a dedicated, enthusiastic, and highly motivated individual to join our forward-thinking, dynamic, patient-focused, supportive, and dedicated Breast Care team.
You will be involved in supporting breast screening and primary and metastatic breast cancer patients. Relevant post-registration experience in breast care and/or cancer care is an advantage. You will need to develop the essential skills that are required for this post.
You should have a first degree and be committed to undertaking further study to maximise your knowledge and skills. Education and professional development are supported by both BHT and Macmillan Cancer Support.
The Personalised Care Agenda is central to this role and you will be involved in electronic holistic assessments.
Main duties of the job
To support the provision of a specialist Breast Cancer Nursing Service within Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. The Breast Care Nurse (BCN) is a member of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) providing a service to patients diagnosed with breast cancer, metastatic breast cancer, and those with suspected breast cancer.
This role involves providing a service to patients with breast cancer, and includes screening patients, care of those with suspected breast cancer and support of patients from the time of diagnosis, throughout their treatment and beyond.
As the named nurse for the Breast Screening Service this post holder is expected to provide BCN support in the assessment clinic and provide ongoing support to recalled patients and benign patients who need information, support, and further signposting.
There is a need for close working with the screening department and all members of the MDT including Specialist Palliative Care services, tertiary Trusts, Community practitioners and allied health care professionals when appropriate.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
* RGN sound number of years
* To have or be working towards degree in Cancer/Palliative Care or relevant field
* ENB 998 or Equivalent teaching Qualification / or teaching experience
* Breast care qualification or willingness to work towards
EXPERIENCE
* Relevant post registration experience at Band 5 or above in cancer or related field.
* Working autonomously, but equally well as a team member
* Relevant clinical expertise in Breast Care/Breast Cancer Care
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
* Excellent interpersonal skills and self-awareness.
* Advanced communications skills with training in an appropriate communication model.
* Ability to communicate with others at all levels in the organisation.
* Understanding of the CNS role within the Long-Term Cancer Plan & the Personalised Care Agenda
* NICE guidelines for Breast Cancer and Breast Cancer standards related to Cancer & Palliative Care,
