Job Title: Deputy Care Home Manager
Salary: Subject to the level of relevant experience and qualifications.
Location: 6 Bedded Home Registered Care Home
Client Group: ESBD/ASD
Hours: 40 hours per week (based on a 4-week rota) including weekends and evenings.
Requirements:
1. A Full UK Driver's License Required
2. Intermediate level of IT Skills (Microsoft Office 365)
3. Qualifications: QCF Level 5 and/or QCF Level 4 Leadership and Management (this must cover CYP)
4. Experience: At least 2 years management experience in a residential childcare setting
5. Essential Knowledge: RISCA Regulations and CIW judgements, safeguarding protocols, performance management, quality assurance systems, and auditing.
As a Deputy Manager with SICS Gofal Cymru Cyf, you will play a vital role in leading and supporting a dedicated team to deliver high-quality, therapeutic residential care for children who have faced significant levels of trauma. You will foster a safe, nurturing environment that promotes healing, resilience, and personal growth.
Your leadership will drive positive practices, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a culture of compassion and accountability. You will empower both staff and young people, oversee care plans, and provide guidance that builds a cohesive, supportive team environment.
Duties:
1. Support the Registered Manager in ensuring high-quality care service delivery and maintenance.
2. Work in accordance with SICS care standards and support colleagues in applying them.
3. Support & develop care workers to manage effectively.
4. Organise staff rotas as advised by the Registered Manager.
5. Ensure staff understand the daily routines of the home.
6. Work within organisational policies and procedures.
7. Ensure staff are aware of roles and responsibilities related to Children’s Home Regulations for Wales (RISCA).
8. Ensure all staff are informed of relevant legislation.
9. Ensure children’s reviews and meetings are delivered within required time scales.
10. Ensure local authority and internal care and placement plans are in place.
11. Chair or participate in meetings and reviews as required.
12. Maintain standards in care delivery and uphold the organisation's standing.
13. Create an open culture where children can complain and feel heard.
14. Ensure a non-discriminatory environment.
15. Assist the Registered Manager with financial administration.
16. Participate in relevant training programs for staff in children's services.
17. Deputise in the absence of the manager and cover for team leaders as necessary.
18. Ensure understanding of the key worker role and monitor its delivery.
19. Encourage professional development of staff.
20. Maintain compliance with good childcare practice and company policies.
21. Ensure support for young people’s social, educational, and emotional needs.
22. Produce, coordinate, and edit reports.
23. Contribute to the on-call system.
24. Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
25. Participate in the staff recruitment process as required.
