Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Medical Engineering Specialist Technicians to join the Medical Engineering Team at Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust.
Applicants who do not currently meet the skills and competences for this Band 6 role are encouraged to apply and, if successful, will be appointed under annex 21 rules supported by a development plan for 2 years.
The successful candidate must have excellent IT skills including knowledge of medical device integration.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful applicant will be responsible for contributing to the transformation of services and contribute to the wider organisational strategies in preparation for our move into the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), which opens in 2024.
Person Specification
Experience
* Substantial experience in maintenance, fault finding and repair of electrical and electronic or mechanical and electromechanical Medical Equipment.
* Experience in the use of computerised equipment management systems.
* Experience in the use of electronic Test & Measurement equipment.
* Demonstrate practical experience in the use of machine tools in light engineering applications.
* Experience in setup, configuration and use of IT to support troubleshooting and service of medical equipment.
* Experience gained within a medical environment (Hospital or Equipment Manufacturer).
Qualifications
* BSc or BEng in electrical/electronic or mechanical engineering or equivalent acceptable engineering-based qualification with relevant experience.
* Demonstrate ongoing training (CPD) to ensure that relevant theoretical knowledge & practice has been continually updated.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
