The role of Assistant Accountant within the Retail Finance Function is pivotal in tracking the Retail Cost Base and ensuring we invest our members' money wisely and helping build great customer propositions to maximise income potential. This position supports the delivery of the Nationwide Strategy by supporting Retail and Customer Centric Teams. Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, you will collaborate with the Retail Finance Team to produce high-profile reports for the Retail SLT and provide key cost analysis to support the stakeholders to manage their cost base and tracking and reporting on all change activity. What you'll be doing Every month you will be preparing the monthly accounts by creating accruals & prepayments and interacting with our core finance systems. You will also support the senior accountant in the team to create accurate forecasts which will enable us to gain confidence that we will operate within our allocated financial plan as well as supporting our monthly management reporting deliverables. You will support our key stakeholders by responding to their queries and assist the accountants in analysing data and preparing regular reports using Excel & PowerPoint, Board, PeopleSoft and sometimes other tools. About you As a minimum requirement, you'll: Have experience working within a Finance environment and can perform basic accounting processes Have an analytical mind set with strong excel skills, and good PowerPoint knowledge Have experience in working with data, generating insight, and providing recommendations Have a proven ability to ensure data collation, accuracy and identification of discrepancies are maintained. Have the ability to organise and reprioritise multiple workloads, with autonomy. Have experience of maintaining relationships with key senior stakeholders and having the confidence to discuss data provided to them.
