We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our Software team. You should have a minimum of 5 years of Software Engineering experience with at least 2 years developing in Java. Web development/JavaScript would be an advantage. You will be joining the development team and working closely with the Product Owner in delivering key features for our cutting-edge Product(s) across a number of key sectors including the Oil & Gas Industry as well as for Perimeters & Borders. Your Principal Responsibilities • You will contribute to a team of multi-disciplinary engineers responsible for the Infrastructure Monitoring System • You will be a key contributor to our Scrum team, bringing your experience in solving complex problems as we implement new features and improve existing offerings for the distributed System. • You will regularly describing/presenting technical solutions to various stakeholders • You will be working closely with the Product Owner and Scrum Master to provide regular releases/updates of the Infrastructure Monitoring System and the Web offering • Release cycle of approx. 3-4 months • You will be developing new features for the Infrastructure Monitoring System and the associated Web offering • You will also be maintaining our current products • You will provide expert guidance on technical issues encountered by our on-site Field Engineering team • You will provide technical assistance and support to our end customers Your Qualifications and Skills • Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related degree, or relevant work experience • At least 5 years Software Development experience • Minimum of 2 years of Java • Knowledge of Web development and JavaScript would be an advantage • Working in an Agile / Scrum environment • Knowledge of a variety of Engineering tools across the entire software lifecycle, such as Atlassian, Mercurial / Git, Maven (or equivalent) • Good networking knowledge including protocols such as HTTP & TCP • Linux expertise would be an advantage • Knowledge of signal processing techniques would be an advantage • Knowledge of multi-threading and distributed processing is advantageous Job Details: Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Work Location: Winfrith, Dorset, UK (Hybrid Working) Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday About Us: Founded in 1990, Luna Innovations is proud of our rich tradition of working in close collaboration with our clients to develop the products that meet and exceed their needs for sensing, test and measurement, monitoring and control solutions.
