A great opportunity to join Thanet District Council’s Building Control Service as a Building Control Surveyor has arisen. This involves working as part of a busy and ambitious team, up to Class 2 general level; the successful candidate will carry out examination and inspection of Building Regulation submissions, plans and site work to ensure building works comply with Building Regulations, including non-domestic projects. The successful candidate will ensure that Building Control work is carried out in accordance with documented procedures, timescales and deadlines. Starting Salary £46,640 per annum, with opportunity for progression to £52,044 Responsibilities include the examination for compliance of appropriate Building Regulation Applications (including Full Plan, Regularisation, Reversion and Building Notices together with appropriate amendments) deposited under the Building Regulations and associated legislation as instructed and making recommendations to the Building Control Manager and Building Control Team. You will also be expected to carry out efficient and regular Building Regulation inspections for all projects (including non-domestic) and to compile accurate records. There is also a requirement to carry out efficient inspections and to report accurately on dangerous structures and, together with a Building Control Surveyor, advise on remedial measures to be undertaken. The Building Control service sits within the Housing & Planning Team within the Place directorate. It is also a team which proactively collaborates with a range of teams across the Council. If you can clearly communicate and provide advice on technical Building Control matters, read and interpret drawings, plans, and technical information, and work collaboratively as part of a team, then this role may be of interest to you. To be eligible for this role you must have Maths and English GCSE or equivalent, NVQ in built environment qualification, and be a registered BSR Class 2A-F, or working towards that.
