Job Description
Our customer, a UK based law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to join their legal team on a 6-month contract basis. This hybrid role, based in London, will focus predominantly (80%) on contentious and advisory work, with the remaining 20% dedicated to transactional support. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the business through a wide range of employment-related legal matters.

Role Overview:
Key Responsibilities:
Contentious & Advisory Work (80%):
* Provide expert advice on senior exits and settlement agreements.
* Advise on restrictive covenant breaches and planning team moves.
* Handle grievances, disciplinaries, and other contentious employment matters.
* Support change projects, including redundancy and TUPE processes.
* Draft and review employment contracts, bonus schemes, and employee handbooks.
* Provide business immigration advice and manage related processes.
* Offer ad hoc legal advice on gender pay gap reporting, holiday pay, furlough issues, etc.
Disputes:
* Manage tribunal litigation, including unfair dismissal, whistleblowing, and discrimination claims.
* Handle High Court litigation related to team moves and bonus claims.
* Conduct internal investigations and support related procedures.
* Advise on strike ballots and union activities, including dispute resolution strategies.
Training & Horizon Scanning:
* Deliver training sessions to internal stakeholders on employment law updates.
* Proactively monitor legal developments and provide insights on potential impacts to the business.
Transactional Support (20%):
* Provide legal support on corporate transactions, including deals, executive exits, and IPOs.
* Advise on commercial matters, such as outsourcing agreements and GDPR compliance.
* Support real estate transactions, particularly on TUPE-related issues.
Key Requirements:
* Qualified solicitor with proven experience in employment law.
* Strong background in both contentious and advisory employment matters.
* Experience handling tribunal and High Court litigation.
* Ability to manage complex projects and provide strategic legal advice.
* Excellent drafting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience in a hybrid legal role, with both contentious and transactional responsibilities.
* Familiarity with corporate, commercial, and real estate legal matters.
* Strong understanding of current employment law trends and best practices.
