The Role
You will be responsible for ensuring that all General Arrangement, Fire Compartmentation, and CAFM system (Planon) CAD drawings are accurately created and maintained to reflect the regular changes that happen in a busy Estates environment.
You will work closely with your counterpart in KUSCO to ensure all record drawings are consistently formatted according to the University’s CAD standards and you will be responsible for providing the Projects team with the latest drawing information as required. You will also undertake regular surveys of buildings to update record drawings and will collaborate with the Projects team on providing information for more formal and specialist surveys.
You will assist the Space Systems & Data Manager in maintaining the space related data on Planon, and will assist in compilation of reports and data for statutory reporting on an ad-hoc basis. You will also lead on room numbering and naming updates for all space changes arising from projects, and on room numbering and naming of all spaces for new builds. You will manage day-to-day operational changes to signage, assisting the Space Systems & Data Manager on larger signage projects as required.
You will also play a key role in the coordination of Estates & Sustainability, IT, and KUSCO operations to minimise potential conflicts or duplications of effort.
The Person
The successful candidate will possess:
- Good working knowledge of 2D CAD software.
- A working knowledge of Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) or Integrated Workplace Management Systems (IWMS).
- A basic understanding of the RICS Code of Measuring Practice.
- The ability to prioritise competing demands and work accurately within tight deadlines.
- Excellent inter-personal and team working skills.
- The ability to self-motivate and to motivate others.
Directorate/Function
Estates & Sustainability sits within the Finance, Infrastructure and HR Directorate and exists to support Kingston University’s academic mission and the goals set out in its strategic plan. It leads on strategic planning, capital development, space management, operational sustainability, energy management, and biodiversity management, as well as statutory compliance and operation of the campuses and premises used by the university. It provides direction for the operation, facilities maintenance, and management of the estate by KUSCO - a wholly owned subsidiary of the University
The Directorate works in an agile way and, following successful completion of a probation period, you will have the opportunity to work 40% of your time remotely.
