About the Role:
As the Head of Data Science and Automation, you’ll support strategic initiatives and deliver innovation through data-driven insights and automation. In this leadership role, you’ll be responsible for leveraging data science and business-driven automation to drive business growth, efficiency, and innovation.
You will create and mature new data science and automation capabilities, improve data analysis models, and use advanced analytics to inform decision-making. You will oversee the data science and automation teams, guiding and supporting their career growth. Additionally, you will work closely with the Drax leadership team (DLT) and departmental heads to identify strategic opportunities to leverage data and insights and advance our strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee data science and business-driven automation to create efficiency, growth, and innovation.
2. Develop Generative AI capabilities across Drax.
3. Collaborate with the Drax Leadership team (DLT) to identify strategic opportunities in data science, AI, machine learning, and statistical insights.
4. Build relationships with senior stakeholders across all business units to leverage data and insights.
5. Manage external technology suppliers and contracts to ensure value and alignment with business goals.
Travel: Travel to sites within the Group and to external business events may be required, including overnight stays.
Who We’re Looking For:
A strong analytical background with significant commercial experience in data science, automation, or AI technologies is essential. You should have a proven track record of delivering cutting-edge data science, automation, and AI solutions from conception through to operation, staying compliant with policies and legislation. Staying abreast of emerging AI developments is crucial.
Ideally, you will also have:
1. Proven leadership experience, including building and coaching high-performing teams.
2. Expertise in delivering new technology solutions from idea to operation.
3. Experience building external relationships and partnerships to deliver complex solutions.
4. Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts to senior executives.
