CSS Recruitment are looking for a Health & Safety Manager in Braintree, Essex.
The role will involve travel throughout London, East Anglia and the South East.
There will be a car allowance per annum.
You will be supporting a workforce of approximately 60 personnel, comprising of factory, construction site and office workers. You would also provide Health & Safety support in relation to sub-contractors working on projects.
Main Duties
* Advise and manage all the health and safety matters relating to the company ensuring its compliance with its statutory obligations. This will include preparing, reviewing, and updating existing company policies.
* Preparing method statements and risk assessments templates for both construction projects and factory operations.
* Assist others in completing method statements and risk assessments for both construction projects and factory operations.
* Undertake health and safety related site audits (at a minimum in line with the contractual requirements).
* Attend site meetings as required.
* Provide health and safety advice and information at the pre-construction phase of projects, including the completion of PQQs and other associated documents.
* Ensure all employees are appropriately trained and competent in their role.
* Ensure overall safety management of sub-contractors.
* Accident and near-miss reporting and investigation.
This is a very much hands-on role and we are looking for someone that is happy to undertake a range of duties and is able to self-manage their own time. You will work closely with all areas of the business, but in particular will need to form a good working relationship with the project managers to ensure all construction projects are fully supported in relation to H&S. Projects typically range in value from £10k – £5m and turnover is expected to be circa £20m in 2025.
Requirements
* You must have NEBOSH general or construction certificate and a background in construction health and safety. A degree in a relevant health and safety discipline would be advantageous.
* Membership of IOSH is essential at Technical level or above.
* Must have a valid CSCS card.
* A full UK driving licence is essential as this role involves regular travel throughout the South of England (typically East Anglia and London). It is expected that your time would be split between site and the office.
Salary
£50,000 - £55,000 per annum
