About you and the role:
This is an ideal role for a vet who is either ready to take the next step in their career into a lead role, or who are already in a similar position and are wanting a new challenge and to gain more experience.
If experienced, you will ideally be confident with all routine surgical and medical cases, an interest in orthopaedics would be advantageous but is not essential. We have a high exotics caseload so ideally, we are looking for a Head Vet who has strong exotics experience. You should be keen to take on a supportive role and demonstrate key skills including building strong relationships with clients, patients, and the wider team. You will manage a team of 5 vets - supporting the vets clinically and managing the team in the daily running of the practice. People management experience is advantageous.
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and a rota basis and there is no OOHs.
About us:
You will be working alongside Partners Nicola Gray and Ignacio Martinez Robles and a friendly team of 5 Vets, 5 Nurses, two student nurses and 2 Animal Care Assistants.
We are based inside a busy Pets at Home store in the centre of town, offering free onsite parking, a train station within a couple of minutes' walk, easy access to the M1 and just 40 minutes from both East Midlands Airport and Birmingham Airport.
We are a small animal practice with a high caseload of exotics. The practice is modern and spacious with state of the art equipment including digital X-ray, in-house laboratory, and ultrasound and multi parameter.

• Bank holiday rota is shared equally 3/4 per year
• Salary starts at £70,000 depending on experience
