We are recruiting for a Business Development Manager (Rail) to join us here at Octavius.
We are a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK.
As Business Development Manager for our Rail Sector, you will hold a senior leadership role with a primary focus on positioning Octavius Infrastructure for profitable sales in accordance with annual targets. Reporting directly to the Strategic Growth Director for the Octavius Group, you will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction and performance of our Rail delivery teams.
You'll be working on…. (what your role and responsibility is)
* Identifying and maintaining a pipeline of market opportunities for capital enhancement projects, renewal programmes and consultancy commissions which align with our strategy to underpin growth across the Rail sector.
* Establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with existing and potential customers which optimise our multi-disciplinary capabilities to become a trusted advisor.
* Utilising your external market knowledge and established brand to represent Octavius at key events across industry forums such as RIA, CECA and ACE.
Key Accountabilities include:
* Monitoring and analysing the Octavius CRM system (Salesforce) to inform monthly reporting and maintain a pro-active approach to enhancing sales backlog.
* Ensuring we deliver value to our customers by establishing and maintaining key relationship networks with key customers including (but not limited to) Network Rail, Strategic Transport Bodies, Combined Authorities and Train Operating Companies.
* Developing market intelligence around key policy drivers, customer procurement objectives and end-user needs for individual projects - keeping informed of changes such as future sector trends or budgetary developments that will impact on bid timings and resourcing.
* Developing awareness with customers and delivery partners of our multi-disciplinary capabilities, working collaboratively with colleagues in the BDMC team to develop strategic messaging and campaigns.

In this role, you will help drive the growth of our Rail market sector by working collaboratively with the operational and pre-delivery leads across our Rail Delivery and Design teams to build a robust pipeline of opportunities aligned with the overall contribution of the sector to our business plan targets.
As a senior member of the Business Development, Marketing and Communications function, you will lead by example, acting as a key business partner to our sector-facing delivery teams to ensure a unified approach to strategic business planning, customer relationships and pipeline growth.

You'll bring… (your wealth of experience & qualifications)
* Experience in the infrastructure, civil engineering or construction sector, ideally in rail/electrification projects including some time spent on site.
* Demonstrable relationships within the rail sector across Network Rail, TOC's, Passenger Transport Executives (TfL, TfGM) and/or Mayoral Combined Authorities.
* Successful track record of enhancing backlog by growing key customer accounts.
* Experience in the use of Salesforce or other CRM systems to manage sales.
* Building relationships with industry stakeholders, influencers and key decision-makers.
* Knowledge of the industry regulatory environment.
* Degree or equivalent level academic qualification and/or relevant experience in the Rail Sector, ideally obtained at a management level.
