The opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity at our Luton site to join the team as a Manufacturing Team Leader.
In this role you will be responsible for the operation of a section within the Manufacturing function, supporting with the day-to-day management of the manufacturing area, overseeing a team of technicians and ensuring an efficient operation in achieving business targets. Provide leadership and line management to the team, coordinating their workloads, providing support to ensure that the team delivers, monitoring any issues, and ensuring production targets, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and quality standards are met in order to meet the requirements of the customer. Development of the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards, whilst fostering a culture of working safely.
What you will do as a Manufacturing Team Leader:
1. Ensure that team members follow defined manufacturing processes and comply with quality requirements
2. Ensure equipment is within calibration date and all systems are functioning correctly
3. Ensure all Production and Service order records are completed appropriately
4. Ensure that non-conforming material is clearly identified and segregated in the identified area
5. Ensure that the escalation procedure for quality concerns is followed
6. Ensure achievement of production throughput against stated capacity targets.
7. Ensure the team are aware of day to day targets and responsibilities
8. Maintain visible lead for adherence to procedures and instructions
9. Monitor and maintain all safety equipment and tools
10. Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required
11. Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks for the local Operations areas
12. Responsible for the training of technicians for products and processes within the local team
13. Communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from the strategic annual plan so that each employee is aware of expectations and deliverables
14. Work positively with support functions to fully define the processes/procedures/controls relevant to team activities.
Relationship Management:
1. Interface with Production Scheduling to determine schedules and incoming work
2. Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures
3. Actively Committed to team development

1. The ability to work independently, reviewed infrequently with minimal supervision
2. Ability to lead by example, gain respect from team and communicate with clarity whilst demonstrating excellence in approach to work and people activities
3. Ability to manage a wide variety of activities at the same time
4. Able to work cross functionally and collaboratively with many stakeholders
Qualifications and Experience Levels:
1. GCSE Level A-C, IVQ Technician certificate, BTec first certificate or equivalent NVQ level 2 qualification
2. Experience of leading teams within manufacturing environment
3. Experience of assisting and developing (multi-skilled) people
4. Strong PC skills and experience of packages such as Excel and Standard Analyses: Purchasing Information System (SAP)
5. Understanding of production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap and re-work
