The Role
This role is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and optimising our IT infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of enterprise IT systems, networking, security, and cloud technologies. It will play a crucial part in ensuring the resilience, security, and scalability of our infrastructure, supporting critical banking operations. There will be a mixture of technical support, BAU, and project work set by the IT Support and Infrastructure Manager. Due to the nature of the role which supports predominantly office-based stakeholders, and the benefit of on-the-job learning and mentoring, this will be an office-based position.
Responsibilities
1. Design, deploy, and maintain IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and cloud environments.
2. Lead infrastructure projects and ensure alignment with the bank's technology and business strategies.
3. Manage Windows and Linux-based systems, virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud services (365 & Azure).
4. Oversee network security, firewalls, VPNs, and cybersecurity measures to ensure compliance with banking regulations.
5. Implement automation and scripting solutions to improve operational efficiency (PowerShell etc).
6. Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and proactive monitoring of infrastructure systems.
7. Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and collaborating with internal teams and vendors.
8. Ensure disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning (BCP) strategies are in place and tested regularly.
9. Stay up to date with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements in financial services.
Professional Experience
1. Minimum three years' experience working in an IT support and a customer service-focused environment.
2. Professional manner with excellent communication and telephone etiquette; able to interact with all levels of seniority within the firm.
3. Ability to work under pressure, listen and interpret customer needs accurately with a positive attitude.
4. Analytical mindset with persistence in solving challenging problems.
5. Attention to detail and logical thinking.
6. Can-do attitude and strong organizational skills.
7. Ability to prioritise key tasks and meet strict deadlines.

9. Passion for technology and its effective application within the business.
10. Experience working in a smaller corporate environment (<500 employees).
Technical Experience
1. Experience with a complex infrastructure environment spanning multiple sites.
2. Windows Server 2016-2025.
3. Azure Cloud / Azure AD / SSO / MFA.
4. Virtualization - VMware (ESXi, vCenter) & Hyper-V.
5. Active Directory.
6. Desktop/User automation using Group Policy and SCCM.
7. PowerShell scripting.
8. Microsoft Intune Endpoint Management.
9. Exchange Online and Exchange Server 2019 / Hybrid environments.
10. Office365 administration.
11. Microsoft SCOM/SCCM.
12. Veeam backup solutions.
13. Storage - NetApp or similar.
14. Network fundamentals, preferably Cisco.
15. Fortinet firewalls, or similar.
16. Experience with Office Add-ins troubleshooting and problem-solving.
17. Telephone Systems, preferably Mitel.
18. Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops, NetScaler experience.
19. Bloomberg, Refinitiv, FactSet, Fidessa, or other Market Data experience.
20. Disaster recovery / BCP.
21. SQL Server database management & administration.
