Who are we?
We’re the UK’s largest fractional-horsepower, electric motor manufacturer – which isn’t surprising considering we’ve been doing this for over 70 years! Parvalux was first established by Mr. L.J. Clarke, back in 1947, in Romford, Essex. Here, Parvalux first began by selling motor rewinds until, in 1957, it relocated to Dorset and began designing and manufacturing complete motor-gearbox units for industrial applications. The company continued to prosper and developed an extensive range of AC and DC geared electric motors, enabling the company to sell into a diverse range of markets, all over the world. But Parvalux didn’t stop there and in 2008 acquired its main competitor, EMD Drive Systems, nearly doubling its turnover in the process. This success didn’t go unnoticed; in 2018 the Clarke family ownership of the company came to an end when Swiss motor manufacturer, maxon, acquired Parvalux, which now operates proudly as a maxon company.
